    1. Thermodynamics is a difficult topic since it describes the transfer of heat energy. There are many definitions which are all interrelated to some degree. The value of this volume of Physical Chemistry is in offering a different treatment of the subject than a textbook. There are several derivations and references to the original discoveries. What it lacks in clever exercises it makes up for in direct, unadorned presentation.
