    1. "Burst" is the kind of memoir you just can't put down. Beautifully written by a former sports reporter whose expert story-telling skills are on full display, "Burst" shows how meaning can be found in the midst of suffering.Kevin Wells shares how faith sustained him through infertility, adoption fraud and the murder of his priest-uncle. Most dramatically, he recounts how blood vessels burst in his brain and almost killed him."Burst" is honest, real and truly inspirational. It's one of the best bo [...]

    2. Inspirational and thought provoking. A great Pre Lent read that everyone can relate to. At times a bit choppy but truly a gift from the heart. Encouraging and passionate. We all need to learn to love.

    3. I wanted to like this more than I did. I wanted to hear more about the author's faith struggle while in the midst of darkness. I expected more about how the author processed his personal issues in light of his faith -- it seems that in the writing he leapt from describing the darkness of his circumstances to praising God for his goodness while skimming quickly over our natural human responses to catastrophe such as anger, disbelief, despair. Steps were missing -- such as the stages of grief and [...]

    4. This was recommended by my pastor Father Dan Leary who happens to be named in passing in this book. I knew the author's uncle Father Tom Wells as he was assigned to our parish at one time. I have known 2 of the other priests named in this book so I am a biased at the start. The author's writing is a little haphazard at times but his deep faith comes through in all the trials that have been placed before him on his 40+ years on this earth. very quick read.

    5. I read this book because Tom knows the author and it mentions many places and people from our time in Maryland. The author is a great example of faith in times of trial. I found the writing a little "choppy", like he had a lot to say but only a short amount of space to say it in.

    6. Kevin Wells relates his store about his journey with God and the fight through a "BURST" artery om his brain. Kevins writing is a little broken but the story is storng and powerful. Kevin shows how his commitment to God has helped him through lifes bad times and has enhanced his good times.

    7. It was hard to determine the goal of the book, it seemed to reflections on a string of random events. There wasn't a natural flow from start to finish.

    8. Reading Kevin's story has inspired me to want to be more mindful of my Catholic roots and my relationship with Jesus Christ.
