    1. This Wild Silence shows that Lucy Jane Bledsoe has a way with words, as shown by the beautiful imagery and the descriptions of the wilderness, and that she knows how to write as the narrative effortlessly jumps from the present to the past. This is a character-driven narrative about secrets and lies and the refusal to face the truth. The story is told from the point of view of Christine, whose life has been shaped around the incident, thirty years in the past, surrounding the disappearance of Ti [...]

    2. This book has an interesting story line, two adult sisters, each haunted in their own ways by a chaildhood trauma, the "disappearance" of their younger brother on a family camping trip. I like the setting, the California mountains in the winter, the survival-in-the-wilderness aspect, as the locale for confronting long-buried truths, not only about themselves, but also about what happened to their brother. 3. This book mesmerized me from the first sentence, and after the third reading, is still one of my favorite books. It is a gripping character study and a heart-rending exploration of very believable family dynamics, written poetically and suspensefully. I was moved to laughter and tears. The themes of self-knowledge and self-deception, loyalty, developing an authentic self, coming to terms with tragedy -- all resonated with me. This is one of the best books I've read in a very long time. I am sorr [...]

    4. It was a very interesting read. I really liked the different stories woven into the main story line to give body to the main characters. And the book really shows how one wrong thing can affect relationships for years.
