I thank the publisher who send this book to me.I enjoyed reading this first part in the trilogy .Starts with the famous socker player Malcolm McCain .He joins the Royal Air Force but his luck runs out when his plane is shot down in Yugoslavia .After captured by the Nazi he is put in to POW Camp. Chez Orlowski known as "PAJAK" -"SPIDER " is also taken by the Nazi.He escapes and together with the partisans they free Malcolm. Book is about bravery of the Spider , Polish and Yugoslavian partisans. N [...]

I never would have guessed that a book with this title would have been a WWII historical fiction story--although I suppose I understand why the title was picked, I think it is misleading for the contents of the story. This historical fiction story took on freedom fighters in Yugoslavia and Poland during WWII, alternating between the viewpoints of a British POW and a Polish freedom fighter. I have to give this book credit for tackling an aspect of WWII that I wasn't that familiar with. However, b [...]

    3. Slow to get started but worth hanging in there for the middle and end.An unexpected character gains in strength throughout the book.An obvious sequel will be in the making.
