    1. I am not vegan. In fact, I don't know that there's anything about me that points to my being in the target market for this book.I point this out because despite not being able to come up with a single thing about myself that places me in Angela Liddon's target market, this is still a contender for my most favorite cookbook in the whole worldd I've barely scratched the surface.I first encountered Liddon courtesy of Google; I was hunting for a lentil loaf recipe and Liddon's blog popped up. I disti [...]

    2. I love this book and I have made almost all of the recipes. Such useful tips and wonderful vegan recipes. Yum!!!!

    3. You know what sold me on this book the most? The food looks SO GOOD.I just want to EAT all the food.I also need to own a physical copy of this book, because the little screen on my iPod touch ain't cutting it.

    4. I was so excited to read this book that I actually pre-ordered it online and it arrived in the mail before it was set to be officially released. I was not disappointed :).If you want to experiment with being vegan, or are vegan already and want to have new, easy recipes - get this book! I am very impressed - never have I ever had every recipe be successful. I have tried a lot of different vegan cooking and baking books and online recipes galore. Most of the ingredients are basic and are attainab [...]

    5. I’ve enjoyed perusing this cookbook even though I don’t think I’ll ever call something made with pureed cashews “cheese.” Liddon became a vegan after overcoming an eating disorder, and she’s all about plant-based eating. However, sometimes I feel like she tries a little too hard to mimic meat-based dishes with substitutes that just aren’t going to measure up. Her best recipes are those that let the veggies be veggies instead of pretending to be meat. I made her rainbow carrots with [...]

    6. I love this cookbook and I use recipes from her blog (ohsheglows) several times a week. Fantastic healthy food and beautiful photography.Just one little quibble The chia seed doughnuts aren't doughtnuts. I mean, I LIKE overt health food, but if someone told me they were going to give me a doughnut and then they gave me one of those, I would be annoyed. Don't get me wrong, they are good, as little fluffy balls of chia-studded dough go, but they aren't doughnuts. Words have meanings. I'm just sayi [...]

    7. This is one of the BEST Vegan cookbooks out there. So is her blog. I've made several different things (both off the blog and out of this book) and all of them turned out wonderfully! In particular the Chia Donuts (book), Creamy Pasta with Mushrooms (website), all the pancake and muffin type recipes (YUM!), Avocado Pasta, were all super scrumptious! You cannot go wrong with this cookbook and the author's blog!

    8. Deliciously Wholesome Vegan Food(Full disclosure: I received a free copy of this book for review at the publisher's behest.)Let me begin by thanking Penguin Books for sending me a copy of this cookbook for review about a month prior to its publication date. (Before it was even on my radar, actually.) As an avowed junk food vegan, it's probably not something I would have picked up on my own - but I've discovered more than one new favorite dish in The Oh She Glows Cookbook! As fans of the Oh She Gl [...]

    9. So this is, like, the most popular cookbook in Canada right now? I thought I’d check it out.Disclaimer that my rating is completely subjective. YMMV, big time. I tried to be generous because I knew going in that it was Not My Bag, but two stars is just how it compares to my other cookbooks, for my preferred style of cooking.I think "Oh She Glows" will work best for people who already dabble in veganism or have major food allergies, because these are the people who will already have a lot of th [...]

    10. This book would be 100% better if I didn't have to read about whether the author's husband enjoys these recipes enough to have them included and published. Update: I was feeling really snarky when I wrote ^^^ and thought I would add: there are some really good recipes in here- especially if you're just starting out with vegan cooking. Some classic, simple recipes with easy-to-find ingredients. Four stars for recipes. 2 stars for the betty crocker stuff that comes out in the intro and recipe desc [...]

Originally posted on Sarahsbookshelf:As I have mentioned in previous posts, my family is moving toward a more plant-based diet, so we are testing out all sorts of cookbooks and other resources catering to vegans. In my searches for things like realistic chocolate chip cookies and other cravings, I have come across Angela Liddon’s Oh She Glows website over and over again. Since some of the recipes sounded pretty good, I thought I’d check out her cookbook. While I think the recipes sound very g [...]

    12. I never thought I'd enjoy eating lentils until I tried Liddon's recipes. Being a follower of her blog, I eagerly purchased this book in hopes of trying out new-to-me recipes. I was pleasantly surprised to find all sorts of treasures such as a list of food she keeps in her pantry at all times (critical for bulk shoppers like myself). Several months later, I've yet to use a recipe I didn't enjoy. Most make enough food for several people which is essential for someone with a busy lifestyle. I don't [...]

    13. Since becoming a vegan, I've been eating almost exclusively, recipes from the Oh She Glows cookbook. What can I say, the food is just amazing!

    14. Pretty fucking good. I'm not even vegan. But this book, as a cookbook, is extremely neat.I got this mostly for the smoothies, which are excellent. The food pictures in this book are sort of out of this world too, like absurdly good.Like, I never knew vegan food could look so good. I feel like I learned a lot from this book, just by looking at the pictures. I feel like I am less dumb now because I know more about something I thought I knew all there was to know about. When you think about what you [...]

    15. 10 Stars if I could!I've followed Angela's blog and Instagram for a while now and I always enjoy her posts and recipes. I finally ordered her cookbook and it is amazing! I read it cover to cover last night. Usually I only find a handful of recipes that I like in cookbooks. I do not like spending tons of time hunting down exotic ingredients and prepping a bunch of different things for one meal. I also shy away from using a lot of imitation cheeses, meats, and other processed foods. When I go thro [...]

    17. Good for inspiration, but not worth buying.First off, full disclosure - I am not a vegan. Maybe someday. I am engaged in a slow process of shifting the way I plan out meals and finding vegan dishes that I would like to eat as much (or more) than non-vegan dishes. So I look to the internet and cookbooks for inspiration. What I like about this cookbook is that it breaks down tasty vegan cooking into simple terms. It does not try to vegan-ize regular dishes (for the most part), something which I th [...]

    18. I have made a handful of recipes from the blog and so borrowed the book from the library to give it a try. I made the vegan nacho cheese, tex-mex casserole, baked oatmeal, and tortilla soup. The baked oatmeal was fantastic - I had never made it before (surprising considering how much oatmeal I eat!). It almost tastes like bread pudding - but without the guilt since it's vegan, gluten-free, and healthy! I am already dreaming up variations like coconut-maple and peach cobbler. I definitely think t [...]

    19. All of these recipes are straightforward. The list of ingredients, the photos, the simple directions and the helpful tips (substitutes, ways to cook it based on taste, etc.) were perfect for someone who isn't a 5-star chef and new to veganism (aka me). I'm extremely limited on foods I can eat due to an illness, but there are 20 recipes I'm able to dine on and look forward to trying out (which is way more than most recipe books.rmally I come out with just a few I can eat, always leaving me disapp [...]

    20. My journey of better cooking and food-as-medicine/better health/happiness started with the "Detox" cookbook. Oh She Glows offers 100 similar recipes, all with easy to find ingredients for delicious, filling, nourishing meals and snacks. I recently used the recipe for Flu-Fighting Smoothie while dealing with a cold this past week. On my worst day, I combined the oranges, ginger, cayenne, sweetener ( in my case, agave) and ice in my Ninja and smoothed away. The drink was amazing, made me feel worl [...]

    21. If my house was burning down and I could only save one book. This would be it. I absolutely am amazed and dumfounded by this cookbook. I'm not a vegan or vegetarian. However I had a long bout of illness that left me not able to digest regular food very well. So I started with green juices and smoothies. Then I segued into vegan/vegetarian. Where I still mostly am. Meat is hard to digest, really. Angela has developed or adapted very original and tasty recipes. But not tasty in your as per usual w [...]

    22. In my house Vegan is uttered with a smirk and some snark do giving this book a go ( at the recommendation of a vegetarian coworker whose opinions I trust ) I was shocked to find myself in the grocery store with a list full if ingredients from the book. Every recipe I have tried from this cookbook has now become a repeat offender in my cooking rotation. Each recipe is easy to follow and if you don't want to go Full ' Vegan' substitutions can be made without taking anything away from the dish itse [...]

    23. Tasty recipes for all. My husband and I aren't vegan or veggie and we loved these dishes for full-on flavour and nutrition. I love Angela's enthusiastic descriptions of her recipes encouraging the reader that trying the recipe will be worth it. So far, all recipes have yielded results as tasty as the beautiful photos promised. I love that Angela is a self-taught cook so her prep pace is much closer to mine than a pro (e.g. Jamie Oliver) who chops at a lightening speed. I love that the ingredient [...]

    24. 2.5 stars. I got this from the library and scanned the recipes I want to make. I only found three worth scanning. In fairness to the author, I have not tried them yet and her photos are really nice. I mostly am not a fan because her recipes are either full of carbs, as in serve home fries WITH toast, or have weird flavor combinations. Her guacamole and bruschetta recipes are whack, for example, because she wants you to add mango and berries to perfectly delicious, savory foods. It feels like an [...]

    25. Gorgeous! This one's a definite keeper. Chock full of mouth-watering photos. The recipes themselves are fresh & inspiring. So far I've tried:~Overnight Oats~Nutty Granola Clusters~Bircher Muesli~Sweet Potato & Black Bean Enchiladas~Veggie Burgers~Enlightened Miso Power Bowl~Pan-Seared Garlic Tofu~Marinated Balsamic, Maple & Garlic Tempeh~Effortless Balsamic Vinaigrette~Chocolate Almond BrowniesNothing has tasted less than superb and most recipes are pretty straight-forward & easy [...]

    26. This one has some really great recipes in it, and not a lot that focus on strange ingredients and meat substitutes. Just simple and delicious! Also, really great photos of all the food, which is perhaps weirdly important to me. I'm definitely going to want to own this one.*Fun fact: I had this book on my wish list and my mom saw it on there and bought it for herself instead of for me! Thanks, Mom! Well, at least she let me look at it--ha!

    27. Another book that I heard good things about and was really glad I flipped through it. Not that I have a desire or need to Glow, but I do want more ideas of how to incorporate veggies into my presently poor diet. Some of the recipes I really liked were * On the mend spiced red lentil-kale soup* 10 spice vegetable soup with cashew cream* Eat your greens detox soup* Marinated italian mushrooms* Fall harvest butternut squash with almond-pecan parmesan

    28. I give this book glowing reviews! Although I'm not vegan, I do eat plant-based, and found so many recipes in this book that I want to make. I especially liked the "my food pantry" and "favorite kitchen tools" sections. I made the avocado lime cilantro sauce that she uses with enchiladas, and it's amazing.
