    1. Pat is the oddest of Montgomery's child heroines. She is not as brilliant as Anne or Emily, nor as exciting as the Story Girl, nor does she have as many adventures as Marigold. In the end all Pat can do is "love too hard". Pat, being a home-body, conducts the majority of her adventures in the loving shadow of Silver Bush. With Judy spinning tales, the house to take care of, and the neighbor boy Jingle to keep her company, Pat is a happy child. Pat of Silver Bush is a domestic tale, but it still [...]

    2. FantasticChange is inevitable. Love is enduring. Homes and houses have the ability to talk and have a life of their own. Montgomery brings the people, the land and the house to life.

    3. I especially loved Pat of Silver Bush. I am a huge Lucy Maud Montgomery fan and last summer visited Prince Edward Island for the first time, which enabled me, so to speak, to put a face to the name. Pat of Silver Bush is just a fascinating book, beautifully written, with exquisitely drawn characters who come to life and leap off the page into your heart. The two-book series is a hymn to home. Pat's love of home and aversion to change rule her life. Friends and beaus come and go and change inevit [...]

    4. Entirely new to me, and I enjoyed it very much (I think you have to consider this as a single story, because a lot from the first book turns out to be important in the second). Excellent plot, you know how it's going to end but can't see how on earth it will get there (which is how I felt about Emily) - and goodness but it's a twisty turny route. The central characters - Pat, Judy, Rae, Hilary - are well-drawn, the others somewhat shadowy, so that Pat's grief when people leave (when she's a child [...]

    5. I have just been enjoying an L.M.Montgomery marathon and these two books were almost the end of it. Just finished "The Blue Castle" and have still got "Kilmenny of the Orchard" to go. Sadly, I have to say that while I have totally loved all the other books, "Mistress Pat" did not quite live up to the standard. For some reason, Montgomery let it drag on too long. Each chapter was entitled by a year and by the tenth year I was really ready to wrap it up Instead it went on for two more years and th [...]

    6. HeavenlyIt took a little bit to get started, but after that I loved this series. Sweet and beautiful! It lingered in my mind all day and it was a joy to know I had it to look forward to reading each night.
