    1. Honestly, if the author hadn't restated that the major players in this book were gainfully employed and in their late 20's/early 30's I would have sworn this was new adult.Jason is a ripped, tattooed bad boy who sleeps his way through busty red heads and leggy blondes to hide from his pain. He used to drink, smoke and have threesomes to hide from his pain, but he has cut back because his friends were like "smoking is bad and won't dull the pain". Minka is an extremely insecure beauty who is self [...]

    2. My Review of The Scale by Mika JolieThis is my first story by this author. This is Minka and Jason’s story.Minka, like many other women is insecure about the way she looks and this impacts all other areas of her life, including her relationship with her twin sister and her parents. There were many of her insecurities I could identify with especially her body image and size issues.Jason has his own issues and used to be a bit of man whore before he met Minka. There is something about her that a [...]

    3.  Debut Author!Treat yourself to some great reading! WIN 1 of 3 eCopies or a SIGNED Print copy!Click on the Banner to Enter - Ends November  24, 2014We all have them, they’re called insecurities. How many times have you heard or thought, I need to lose weight, why did my sister, friend, frenemy, a total stranger get all of the looks, the hair, on and on ad nauseum? Imagine having a twin, the one YOU think got the looks, the personality, and THE guy, the one you have had a crush on for years, [...]

    4. Wonderful Read!I love this book! this book had me laughing, crying, and hot all at the same time.Minka & Jason's love story while not unique,it was amazing, written beautiful,&will capture your attention.Minka was a sad, lonely slightly over weight woman who was insecure & jealous of her fraternal twin who was model thin & beautiful. Her twin Keely, was set to marry Minkas best friend Blake, who Minka "thought" she was in love with. While at their engagement party Blake's childhood fri [...]

    5. Genre: Contemporary, Erotic RomanceContent: M/F, Oral SexLength: NovelHeat Level: SpicyReviewer: MarchelleDate: July 20, 2014WOW!! Amazing! I loved this book! Minka is vacationing for two weeks on Martha's Vineyard for her fraternal twin sister, Keely's wedding. She is carrying a torch for Blake, her sister's fiance and feeling very sorry for herself while doing her best to pretend to be happy for the couple. Blake is part of a foursome of hot, rich guys. Enter Blake's best friend Jason. Ri [...]

    6. Unlikable characters lead a predictable story. Minka's isolation is self-inflicted and unwarranted. She's selfish and immature. I had to remind myself these are full-fledged adults and not some adolescents pretending to be grown ups. There is no growth in Minka until 95% into the book, and then the book is over. The chemistry between the MCs is lukewarm at best. If the next book is about Adam and Lily, it should be heads and shoulders more engaging. It isn't a badly written book, but there is lit [...]

    7. The Scale has many themes and sub - themes. Ms. Jolie tackles interracial love, loss, self - doubt, relationships and family dynamics all in one tight little buddle. Somehow, she made it work and all of the interwoven storylines morphed into a beautiful story that is identifiable and emotionally stunning. The most powerful subject matter tackled was that of self - image. The flawed and the flawless. That's how Minka saw herself and her twin sister. Her inferiority complex colors her relationship [...]

    8. Minka Greene has always been the "Ugly" twin. Her sister Keely, is tall, beautiful and the one everyone loves. And to make matters worse, Keely ends up engaged to her best friend from college, Blake.Finding herself on Martha's Vineyard with the happy couple as they prepare for their upcoming wedding is proving to be too much. Minka needs to say goodbye to the love she has for Blake and try to salvage her relationship with her sister. Neither of them know of her infatuationd she needs to get over [...]

    9. DNF @ 34%. I had to rage quit this book. Spoilers ahead. This book has all the ingredients of a book I'd usually love:1. Plus size heroine - although I never really understood what size she is. "My BMI tells me I'm overweight" and pondering whether two separate stores carry her size (they both do btw, first clue that plus size here is probably a size 12 or something) are all the clues you get. Maybe it's more explicit later in the book but I wouldn't know because I QUIT.2. Heroine secretly in lov [...]

    10. DECEIVED! BUYERS BEWARE!That is exactly the emotion this reader experienced during the reading of this story, spun by the author Mika Jolie. The deception began immediately via the short excerpt, which basically says the lead heroine was in the throes of unrequited love madness having to attend the wedding between a former lover and her twin sister. I don't know about anybody else but this led me to believe I was getting prepared to enjoy a down right juicy tale of deceit and manipulation by som [...]

    11. This is one of the of the best romances I've read in a LONG TIME. I loved it! It's brilliant and even writing a review will not give it justice, but I'll try. Just get it because it's that good, positive and uplifting with a good ending. It’s also funny at times.About the storyMost women (or me) can all relate to Minka, the main female character, who like most of us , defines herself by her flaws/issues - a few pounds overweight, insecurity about her body, confidence issues (which thanks goodne [...]

    12. THE SCALE is good women's fiction with a touch more steaminess. Although the intense and immediate attraction between Minka and Jason is passionate neither expects their attraction to lead more than a simple physical affair. Minka and Jason are both somewhat self destructive. Neither is willing to be vulnerable which causes each to make decisions that lead to frustrations, misunderstandings, and hardships that could have been avoided. Minka is dealing with the unfortunate realization that her be [...]

    13. I'm giving this book 3 stars because it was very well written and the story was quite good. That being said, Minka was awful. Insecurity, I understand. Longing for someone that you know you can never have, I also understand. But she was beyond selfish. She hates her sister because she has the man she wanted even though her sister never did anything but love and encourage her. Her jealousy was disgusting. Also I hated how this story made it seem like good sex translates into love. I also hated th [...]

    14. This was an amazing book, it taught the reader about self acceptance and love. As a person who struggles with my own self love and acceptance it opened my eyes to how I sound to my friends, because Minka was saying things I have repeated. Love we all want it but we first have to love our selfs first before another person can truly love us. I loved Jason and Minka's journey, he's a flawed man himself still dealing with his mothers suicide and fathers indiscretions. This book was also about forgiv [...]

    15. BeautifulWhat a beautiful story of two flawed human beings. I loved the scale quotes at the beginning of each chapter; some were very profound.Minka so reminds me of myself. I was ready to hate the beautiful twin and her parents on her behalf because I felt we were kindred spirits, but her sister really did love her and never felt she was more beautiful than Minka. Unfortunately, Minka suffers from low self-esteem and unrequited misplaced love but Jason sees her for what she really is.a beautifu [...]

    16. Awesome Read About Love and Finding Balance. Awesome Read About Love and Finding Balance. This is my first time reading a book by Mika Jolie. This story was well written with great depth and complexity in the characters. I found myself identifying with and being deeply moved by Minka's character. I love how she was able to learn to trust herself enough to love herself! I think in life things happen to us all that causes us to get off balance. In the case of Jason and Minka, LOVE intervened and c [...]

    17. Reviewer: SueI give this book 5 stars! It is a great sexy romance with a happy ending! The main character, Minka, is a twin with a negative self-image and is infatuated with her sister's fiancé. Her love interest is a tattooed, rich playboy with his own issues who loses his heart to Minka in two weeks' time. There are enough hot sexy encounters, angst, and laughter to keep you turning the pages plus a wonderful happy ending. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and would highly recommend this [...]

    18. Minka. What can I say, I liked her. This was a really good read and I enjoyed the detail visual of Martha's vineyard. Jay made me swoon, I loved him. My one complaint with this story would probably be the fact that Minka rarely talked. A lot of times throughout. the book she "looked" or "just touched his face" or couldn't/wouldn't get her words out so she would end up looking down at her feetat kinds got on my nerves after so many times. But overall I would read again and recommend for sure.

    19. When a woman has to attend the wedding of her twin sister and the man she's secretly been in love with for years, she's forced to deal with her feelings about him and her own insecurities. While there she also meets the very sexy bestfriend of her brother in law to be. This is a sweet love story about an insecure woman forced to see who she really is and how she finds love in the process.

    20. I enjoyed the Scale. Jason saw Minka and not who she saw in the mirror or on the scale. He loved her for her. Looking forward to reading Adam and Lily's story.

    21. 5 StarsThis is the first installment in the Martha’s Way series by the Author Mika Jolie. I totally fell in love with this story for so many reasons and I am looking forward to reading the next installment. This is the story of Minka Greene, a 27 year old Teacher who has lived her entire life in the shadow of her fraternal twin sister, Keely. Minka has always been under the impression that Keely was the better, prettier and skinnier version of herself. The version every man wants. After losing [...]

    22. 4 star reviewThe Scale by Mika Jolie is the first book in the Martha’s Way series. I have read some of this authors work before so I was looking forward to starting this book. I really enjoyed the story and it was what I’ve come to expect from her as a writer, it was well written, flowed well and for me had relatable characters. I will admit there were some parts that frustrated me and without spoiling it I’m sure if you have read the book you will know which part I’m referring to (i.e. [...]

    23. I could relate to this book. I'm not a twin but my sisters and I are referred to as Irish triplets. Being in the middle of two such beautiful women who are a lot thinner than I am causes me to question myself a lot. I totally relate to Minka’s insecurities when it comes to Keely and her world of beautiful people. Minka feels like her choice of profession, body type, even the way she chooses to wear her hair, pale in comparison to her fraternal twin. She's in love with her best friend Blake. Th [...]

    24. The Scale ( Martha's Way Book 1) by Mika Jolie. An amazing 5 star read for me. This is the first book by this author that I have read but I can guarantee it will not be the last. I absolutely loved this book. It was refreshing to actually read a book where the main female character isn't a size zero. I laughed with this group as well as cried with them. Minka Greene is on Martha's Vineyard for the wedding of her sister, Keely’s wedding. Her sister is marrying her best guy friend, Blake. Minka [...]

    25. Very sweetI loved this story. Minks and her insecurities irked me at first but they made her human. I also like how Jason loved her through it all and helped her discover her own self-love. This is my first read by this author and I will definitely read more of her. Now on to Lily and Adam.

    26. I love a book about a bigger girl. I'm sure y'all know that by now. I identify with this type of woman, but I also want to read about their lives, their happily ever afters. Minka loves Blake and Blake is marrying her twin sister. The one she feels is the pretty twin, the one that has it all while plain overweight Minka gets nothing. She's always felt inferior to Keely (her twin), so she keeps her at arms length. She has to move on though, Blake is in love with Keely and not her and for her own [...]
