    1. I enjoyed the book overall. I adored some poems but found others to be tedious and confusing. Some poems were difficult to understand, and many, particularly the poems written for specific people, might have been more enjoyable if the book had provided some kind of information or context. Some of these poems just don't work in a vacuum. These poems range from romance to horror to fantasy, and there is even a drama included at the end of the book. The poems are given in reverse chronological orde [...]

    2. How is it, that with my love the dark and beautiful stories, that I have never read Edgar Allan Poe’s poetry? I have no idea, but I’m glad I finally have! Some gave me shivers, some were gorgeous, and all had this undertone of longing in them. I loved them all, but have to say some favorites were ‘The Raven’ (that one line “Quoth the Raven – Nevermore!” is just so haunting and has so much meaning!) ‘Fairyland’ and ‘The Haunted Palace’. But they were all so good and such exa [...]

    3. This collection of poems by Edgar Allan Poe is filled with poetry speaking of death, hope, hopelessness, the sense of time and how everything changes as days go by. Some of it is rather gloomy but at the same time many of these selected poems bring words of wisdom as well as hope. Most of the poem's are relatable to Poe's life. "A Dream Within A Dream" discusses the death of Poe's wife. He cannot seem to let go of the memory of his love and it shows his hope and despair. Each and every poem is f [...]

    4. I love Poe and come back each year to read a bit of his work, usually just a few mixed in with the most obvious- The Raven, Lenore, Ulalume, The Bells and Annabel Lee. This year I decided to read The Complete Poems, four things marking it memorable:1. Three stormy nights of rain, wind and scratching branches against my window, setting a perfect mood 2. Finishing the book on Poe's 203rd birthday3. A friend posting pictures of his visit to the Poe Museum and Poe's gravestone 4. Discovering Poe''s [...]

    5. Edgar Allan Poe is truly timeless and prolific. His works are true and ground breaking. Without him, there wouldn't have been poems or works that talked about mystery, suspense, detective genres and the dark sides of life. He pointed out that not all stories end happily and it is even seen in his poems too. No one at the time was writing these kinds of aspects but him and I strongly believe that he should be granted the title "The Father of the Detective story" but sadly many contemporary writer [...]

    6. Book review 4#Edgar Allen Poe: complete poems B1 Kate Wilson The poems written by Edgar Allen Poe are an excellent choice of literature for anyone who likes a more somber style of writing. Most of the poems that Poe writes have a more serious tone to them, such as The valley of unrest, and The raven. "Desolate yet all undaunted, on this desert land enchanted-On this home by horror haunted- tell me truly, I implore!". The tone although grim, makes for very interesting reading material. This serie [...]

    7. There are a couple pages of great poems here, and a couple hundred pages of filler quality poems.

    8. Almost entirely ghettoized by the popular imagination as a writer of horror stories, in Poe's poetry we see him much more in the mold of the classically educated nineteenth century Romantic that he really was. There is some preoccupation with darkness, death, and foreboding, but it does not stand out from the more generally familiar verse conventions, such as classical allusion and "high" (overwrought) emotion. Nearly all of the poems are connected to either real or figurative women, the latter [...]

    9. If you have never read anything (short story or poem) by Edgar Allan Poe, I would suggest starting with this book. You may find that many of Poe's poems strange, depressing, or just downright weird. Some of them strike me that way as well. However, this collection contains some poems that MUST be read. My all time favorite by Poe is The Raven, which is included in this book. Others that I feel are worth mentioning are: Annabel Lee, A Dream Within a Dream, Serenade, The Sleeper, Romance, and Even [...]

    10. I really enjoyed these poems. There was only two things that didn't make sense to me, why was there a part of a play in it when this was just a book of his poems and why did the editor chose to have the poems go in reverse chronological order. I feel it would make more sense reading from the beginning of his poems to the ending of his poems. Over all, I liked reading these poems and found a couple that I really liked but had never read before.

    11. Kalo dah masuk ke Inggris jadul dan puisinya yang berkesan tradisional (rima dsb) saya nyerahtapi ada beberapa yang suka, dicuplik dikit-dikit aja yahNone so devotional as that of "mother"itu sebaris dari Puisi TO My Mother yang dikutip di halaman awal, di sebelah tandatangan.Yang lainnya menyusul kalo sempet. :D

    12. Ok no one can do it quit like Poe can. This is just one downright creepy guy.His poems are very dark and morbid and genuinly creepy which I just can't get enough of.This is one dead guy I would have loved to meet.

    13. Poe is so dreary, but I love his work. Annabel Lee is my very favorite, I always try to read it out loud, with as much inflection as possible. My kids used to laugh at me, but now that they are forced to read poetry in school, they agree, it makes it much easier to enjoy.

    14. Not very impressed. Too much death and despair. There were three poems I really likedThe Raven, Annabel Lee, and A Valentine. A Valentine was very cleverly written.

    15. Poe was obviously a great story-teller and the creator of the modern day detective story. But it is his poetry that I love best.

    16. Greatly enjoyed these poems. This particular edition is the ultimate Poe collection, with more poems than any other "complete" edition, and introductions and annotations for each.

    17. His dark and captivating word play always holds me in his grip until the very end of the poem. And even then i want more.

    18. It was a good for the most part. It had a lot of good poems and short stories. I liked how it gave a little background of Edgar Allen Poe's life.
