    1. I enjoyed the book overall. I adored some poems but found others to be tedious and confusing. Some poems were difficult to understand, and many, particularly the poems written for specific people, might have been more enjoyable if the book had provided some kind of information or context. Some of these poems just don't work in a vacuum. These poems range from romance to horror to fantasy, and there is even a drama included at the end of the book.     2. How is it, that with my love the dark and beautiful stories, that I have never read Edgar Allan Poe’s poetry? I have no idea, but I’m glad I finally have! Some gave me shivers, some were gorgeous, and all had this undertone of longing in them.     3. This collection of poems by Edgar Allan Poe is filled with poetry speaking of death, hope, hopelessness, the sense of time and how everything changes as days go by. Some of it is rather gloomy but at the same time many of these selected poems bring words of wisdom as well as hope. Most of the poem's are relatable to Poe's life.     5. Edgar Allan Poe is truly timeless and prolific. His works are true and ground breaking. Without him, there wouldn't have been poems or works that talked about mystery, suspense, detective genres and the dark sides of life. He pointed out that not all stories end happily and it is even seen in his poems too.     9. If you have never read anything (short story or poem) by Edgar Allan Poe, I would suggest starting with this book. You may find that many of Poe's poems strange, depressing, or just downright weird. Some of them strike me that way as well. However, this collection contains some poems that MUST be read. My all time favorite by Poe is The Raven, which is included in this book.     10. I really enjoyed these poems. There was only two things that didn't make sense to me, why was there a part of a play in it when this was just a book of his poems and why did the editor chose to have the poems go in reverse chronological order. I feel it would make more sense reading from the beginning of his poems to the ending of his poems. Over all, I liked reading these poems and found a couple that I really liked but had never read before.

    12. Ok no one can do it quit like Poe can.This is just one downright creepy guy.His poems are very dark and morbid and genuinly creepy which I just can't get enough of.This is one dead guy I would have loved to meet.

    13. Poe is so dreary, but I love his work. Annabel Lee is my very favorite, I always try to read it out loud, with as much inflection as possible. My kids used to laugh at me, but now that they are forced to read poetry in school, they agree, it makes it much easier to enjoy.

    14. Not very impressed. Too much death and despair. There were three poems I really likedThe Raven, Annabel Lee, and A Valentine. A Valentine was very cleverly written.

    15. Poe was obviously a great story-teller and the creator of the modern day detective story. But it is his poetry that I love best.

    16. Greatly enjoyed these poems. This particular edition is the ultimate Poe collection, with more poems than any other "complete" edition, and introductions and annotations for each.

    17. His dark and captivating word play always holds me in his grip until the very end of the poem. And even then i want more.

    18. It was a good for the most part. It had a lot of good poems and short stories. I liked how it gave a little background of Edgar Allen Poe's life.
