1 thought on “Queen of Knights

    1. This book was not what I was expecting - it was better. I love knights and the legends that have grown around them and this book did not disappoint. The opening pages took me to a place I rarely visit, the fantasy area of my mind. Overall, this historical fantasy kept be wrapped within the story through every single page. The protagonists were well drawn and interesting, the places intriguing and the story perfectly crafted. I recommend this one for everyone.

    2. I read this one a couple of year ago, (I am catching up on my reviews) and thought it was great. It's a combination of a medieval historical and fantasy about 12th century England (and has Richard the Lion Heart (don't groan he's got only a small part)and a few other mythical characters and then he takes you The story takes you from England to the Middle East - to the Holy Land. But the real kick of this book is the fantasy element and David Wind handles this with consummate skill.

    3. I LOVE reading about Knights and the crusades. The medieval fantasy aspects woven into the story - it just took me to a different place.

    4. It was difficult to define this book as it was a combination of historical fiction and fantasy. Historical, because it was set at the time of Richard the Lionheart in England and indeed, Richard is a character in the book. But it is fantasy in that Gwendolyn is born out of the union of a mortal woman and a kind of god, and she wields unearthly powers. I listened to the audiobook so, as usual, there are two aspects to the review. The first was the story itself. I wavered between really liking it a [...]

    5. The Queen of Knights by David Wind - 5/5 starsMuch of the focus of this story seems to be in England, and is based on the love between the Lady Gwendolyn and the Knight Miles Delong, whose fates are determined by mystical powers. However there is a lot of stimulating rivalry later onThis novel is woven with many myths and fantasy elements, which I enjoyed. Much of the beginning is like a romantic dream, with vibrant colours and beautiful settings combined to create a scene that is memorable both [...]

    6. Prophecies, Battles, Druids, Deceit, Good, Evil, Betrayal, History, Magic, Myths and Love. All of these elements and more are combined with Historical figure's and woven into a really good, well written interesting, enjoyable and entertaining story. Intertwined with mythical and magical element's.Gwendolyn's birth was told by prophecy as was her destiny. To be the Knight who wields the silver sword. The story moves along at a pretty fast pace and there is a lot that happens. Even though the main [...]

    7. Queen Of Knights by David WindGwendolyn is one of the most powerful female knights in the world. Miles Delong, Earl of Radstock and military adviser to King Richard sees Gwendolyn and teachers her how to fight. Gwendolyn falls in love with Sir Miles. Together they fight many wars, in their home land and the Holy Land. She fights through the bloody crusades and became known as the Queen of Knights.A well written story with Medieval history and fantasy to make a suspense filled dramatic story. Wit [...]

    8. A god for a father and a magical sword as a legacy from that father sets Gwendolyn for a less than boring life. She is guided in the use of her magical sword by a Druid Priestess who shows up from time to time to help and teach her. Set during the crusades of Richard the Lion Heart. Gwendolyn defies convention to become a knight. As a masked knight who has taken vows to keep their face covered and not speak until the Holy Land is reclaimed she is able to keep her identify secret and live a doubl [...]
