    1. I was given a free sample of the Martini Club series at a conference recently. There's not enough stories set in the 1920's, and I was immediately intrigued. Each character comes from similar or different backgrounds, and faces their own challenges in the new life they have chosen. Everyone is running from their past, but these four smart, resilient and talented young women are forced to grow up in an environment that is tough and the opposite of their sheltered lives. The first story begins with [...]

    2. Rebellious was the first book I read of the Martini Club 4 series, and it really set the scene. Four young women run away from their homes and lives in England in order to make their way as independent women in New York City. I already have a bit of a thing for the 1920s, so it was easy to get caught up in this book (and the others in the series). Lady Jessica is quite the bluestocking, and determined to write more than just society columns and gardening party reports in the newspaper. This dete [...]

    3. Rebellious is one in a series of four books about a group of four girlfriends who hop a ship to America in the 1920s. Each book focuses on one of the friends, with the others as supporting characters. Lady Jessica Hatton, who quickly becomes just "Jessica" once in America, is the spunky protagonist of this book. This book kept me turning the pages as Jessica landed herself in all sorts of predicaments as she endeavors to land an exciting story for the newspaper she works for, instead of the rose [...]

    4. Another good book in the Martini Club 4 Series. This is one book in the Martini Club Series. They are all set in the 1920’s. Four friends leave England and head to New York. They all have their own story. This one is about Lady Jessica. She gets a job writing for a newspaper, something she’s always wanted to do. Her friend, Lady Margaret (Meggie) gets a job at Club 501. That is where Lady Jessica (Jess) meets Frank Markov, owner of Club 501. They seem attracted to each other, but will they e [...]

    5. This was so much fun. Light and happy and very 1920s. McCabe pays such good attention to her details. She makes it easy and enjoyable to escape into 1920s New York.
