    1. "I love you Valentine".- MariaValentine is one epic adventure. The descriptive writing paired with the detailed plot and the action made this a very enjoyable read.As the story begins, we meet Valentine. He is a rough and worldly man who knows how to work the system to get what the wants. Valentine is quite the charmer. He has been wrongfully accused of crimes that he hasn’t committed. Although he has lived a full life, he is actually quite empty.Lady Mary is an orphaned lady of privilege who [...]

    2. ****Full Review****I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Lady Mary has been sheltered in her keep for many years since her parents died. At the age of twenty-six in the year 1180, she is feeling positively ancient. When she starts to have clandestine meetings with a visiting knight, she finds herself falling in love. However, when the marriage talks begin, her priest reveals that her parents betroth [...]

    3. Arc provided by Lyrical Press through NetgalleyDNF at 36 %Damn you pretty, enticing book cover with your attractive eyes! -_-I admit it: the only reason I requested this was basically in the expectation that what was on the inside was as interesting as what was on the outside.*shallow me hides in shame*Look, if I didn't have anything else to read ( in the world) I would finish this. I could force myself to read it, but the more I kept advancing in the story, the more I kept hating the characters [...]

    4. Buddy read with AngelaLady Mary Beckham has fallen in love and is ready to get married but there is a tiny problem - she already has a husband. Even though she has never met Valentine her parents arranged their betrothal when she was a baby and she needs Valentine's agreement to annul their contract. This is made even more awkward by the fact that Valentine is a wanted criminal and she's terrified that if her new fiancé finds out about their connection he'll walk away from her. Mary isn't one t [...]

    5. A well written book rich in history, action and romance.Mary leaves her guardians in England to find Valentine, a man she was promised to marry at a young age. Mary has another that she would like to marry. And so she sets out to find Valentine and cry off their promised marriage.Funny thing happens though when she meets her intended, chemistry, attraction and some great banter and sass. Valentine has been wrongly accused of a crime that he didn't commit and is determined to prove his innocence. [...]

    6. This one definitely took its' time. It wasn't too bad, but it also wasn't that interesting. I know the author planned on making it exciting, but it just wasn't exactly to my liking. It wasn't suspenseful or gripping enough for me. And the way (view spoiler)[Valentine and Mary's relationship seemed unfounded. There was no real bonding between them. (hide spoiler)] I also knew as soon as (view spoiler)[Valentine didn't seem fazed at Mary's reaction to Teresa that she'd be a sister I liked the way [...]

    7. It's breathtaking! Tall, Dark and Spanish! 6 starsAmazing debut for new-to-me author Heather Grothaus. What a wonderful surprise to discover this little gem! Valentine, introduces us, to the Brotherhood of Fallen Angels, a new series set in the medieval Holy Land where four Crusaders Valentine, Roman, Adrian and Constantine meet. It's a real page turner! The author slowly built the suspense to keep me hooked to Valentine and Maria's story until the last page! I really could not stop reading to k [...]

    8. Fun, excitement-filled and emotional medieval book. The beginning had such incredible description, I just had to go on. Lots of travels and new sights to see in this one. Light on the romance, but high on the adventure.

    9. All Mary wants is to marry her handsome and successful knight. Instead it seems she was already promised to someone else when she was a child, and that needs to get annulled first. Certainly when she finds out that Valentine is a wanted criminal.Since no one can find out about this, Mary sets out to find him herself. Now if we want to talk about accuracy, I really can not see this happening back in the day. Her parents may be dead, and the king might be her keeper, but going on an adventure like [...]

    10. This book was incredible. I think it's even more incredible due to the fact I almost gave up on it after the first few pages. If you're reading a sample and you're not sure DON'T GIVE UP! I was given an ARC of the book through NetGalley from the author/publisher for an honest review (THANK YOU!!). That was what kept me going and I'm so glad I didn't stop reading. Initially I was confused and not sure what in the world was going on or where it was going. Then Mary and Valentine meet and the story [...]

    11. What a wildly adventurous novel. There was a bit of a slow start until we get into the story and the series, but by the end I was left counting down the days until the release of book 2. That said, the pace of the writing matched the action of the story. Grothaus plays with flow and tempo in a manner that highlights the action and showcases the romance.I really enjoyed how Grothaus didn’t stray far from the medieval time period in which the novel takes place, while at the same time she didn’ [...]

    12. ** I received an ARC from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review **This book was incredible. I just finished and and can't wait for December when the next one comes out!!This is the ultimate medieval road trip romance. Valentine is a wanted man. He is wanted by his family for murder and by the king for treason He is also wanted by the woman who is his forgotten wife. Lady Mary aka Maria is soon to be married and she couldn't be happier - that is until she finds out that she [...]

    13. Originally published at Reading RealityJust like the heroine, I fell in love with the face on the cover of this book, and just couldn’t resist reading his story. Now that I’ve read it, I’ll admit that the picture on the cover does not match the picture in my head, but there is still something arresting about that face. Also something slightly familiar. I think I’ve seen that face before.Lady Mary Beckham has seen that face before too, but it is long before she remembers. When she was a ba [...]

    14. He’s a man of passion and principle. But would he kill for his convictions? That’s the question that has Valentine Alesander fighting for his innocence. He’s been accused, along with three other Brothers, of orchestrating the horrific siege at the Christian fortification of Chastellet. Could this fatefully-named Crusader be a lover, a fighter, and a traitor? One woman from his past is about to find out.Gorgeous, free-spirited Lady Mary Beckham has escaped her guardians in England to travel [...]

    15. Valentine is smooth as they get. Swept me right under my feet. Known as a womanizer and the biggest flirt but tloyal to the bone. He has long been banned from his hometown and labeled a traitor. Along with his brothers in arms, they will prove their innocence.Lady Mary Beckham is sure to marry her handsome knight but she just found out she is married to another; an arrangement made by her parents when she was a child. Her plans are to find this man, dissolve the marriage and get back to her beth [...]

    16. (This review is based on ARC ebook received via netgalley in exchange for an honest opinion.)A very enjoyable medieval romance featuring a wrongly accused Spanish hero, Valentine, and an English noble heroine, Lady Mary, who were betrothed by their parents when she was born, and he was only six years old. After years of being an orphan and living in almost complete solitude, Mary felt all but forgotten when papers from the king arrived ordering her to marry an English knight she had previously m [...]

    17. VALENTINE (THE BROTHERHOOD OF FALLEN ANGELS) BY HEATHER GROTHAUS is an interesting Scottish Medieval Historical Romance. #1 in a new and exciting series, "The Brotherhood of Fallen Angels". Meet, Valentine Alesander, he and three other Brothers of the order have been accused of plotting the siege at the Christian fortification of Chastellet. They must prove their innocence, stay alive long enough to prove said innocence, but will they convictions, stop them from finding their Lady loves? Lady Ma [...]

    18. If you like your knights a bit tarnished with loads of personality you will enjoy reading this fabulous book. I truly am a fan of Ms Grothaus writing and have enjoyed her previous books. She makes it easy for the reader to understand what is happening. You get a sense of how hard it must of been back in medieval times when you were following your commanders orders during the Crusades. Valentine Alesander has been labeled a traitor in the siege of Chastellet in which he supposely lead the killing [...]

    20. Oh! Where to start?! Firstly, a huge thanks to netgalley for giving me this to review I never would have found this author or this book. Valenteen!!! the man is totally yummy - Spanish, swarthy, cheeky, funny, ingenious, emotional and in love. But mostly? Adventurous - if only I'd been his lady love/side kick. What a trip! How to live before passportsLady Mary is a combination of sweetness naivety and passion for something else. Valentine rode his horse, sailed his raft, administered poison, sto [...]

    21. This is a good medieval 'on the road' story. Valentine and Mary were married as children and must reconnect in order for Mary to get an annulment to marry the Knight of her dreams. Valentine is a wanted man, so they must covertly travel to England in order to solve their situation. As they travel the character development is enjoyable. Mary has never really lived. She has been cloistered in her home her whole life. For someone who has no real life experience, she takes to the adventures on the ro [...]

    22. Charismatic Valentine is a man of many disguises, a lover of women, and a true friend. Mary Beckham is a sheltered young woman who leaves home on a mission only to find herself immersed in an adventure with Valentine. The trip from Austria back to England is filled with fun, misfortune and interesting events. This was an entertaining well written story that left me feeling good at the end. I have never read any books by this author before but look forward to reading more of her work in the futur [...]

    23. WoW. I was totally not prepared for this book nor this author. The story of Valentine & Mary aka Maria is just so much. It is fully fleshed out and there is so much world building that it was almost too much to take in. I struggled with the opening because there was so much backstory to fill the reader in on. Before long I was completely sucked in and an invisible witness of their story. Lots of whit and fun to turn the pages too. Both of their voices came through and stuck with me. I so lov [...]

    24. A great romance in all in the details, and Heather Grothaus Valentine is beautifully detailed. Epic in scope, a rough and charming hero, while Lady Mary is his opposite- refined and prideful. Both sharing passion and whit their personalities clash in the BEST kind of way.

    25. I had fun with this book, it was a little bit of everything, comedy, drama made for a great escape. A great start for the first book of a series, I look forward to more of Heather Grothaus' books.

    26. DNF at 50%. I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I tried to get into the story, but the characters dialect seemed wrong and it drove me nuts. It also didn't appear to stay true to the time period. So I'm abandoning for now. I may re-try later in the week.

    27. I won this book through GoodReads First Read program.A fun, yet predictable tale about Mary aka Maria Beckham who has been isolated most of her life. She has met a knight who she likes and wants to marry. When she inquires of her priest she is informed she is already married. She is married to a bad boy-Valentine Alesander. She was given as a child to Valentine by her parents many years ago before they both died. She must get Valentine to give up his right to her.Valentine is the bad boy of this [...]

    28. 2.5 stars – rounded What I expected was a slightly darker medieval era story with a touch of romance and drama. Valentine is soldier of the Crusades, and is desperately seeking to avenge his reputation. Mary is a young woman betrothed to him, but running without chaperone or sense to find her man. Mary was, in short, a brat. Spoiled, clueless and not particularly likable. Valentine had a bit more polish – but I didn’t buy him as a crusader, or one particularly interested in more than an [...]

    29. Captivating and Adventure RiddledNovel storylines with a rich historical narrative. I really enjoyed the romance without the specifics of sex. Also, wonderful character development though s appoint the POV in the middle of a paragraph was a bit of a derailment each time.
