    2. I was intrigued with the Etruscan history angle and recently visited Lake Bolsena, which is what motivated me to buy this book. It was interesting - but what ruined this book for me (spoiler alert) was the animal torture. This was completely unnecessary for the plot and frankly has given me nightmares.

    3. ####Reviewer received free copy for review.###I have put off doing this review because I really dislike giving a negative review for a first novel. Most of my dislike for the book is based on the issues that are common in first novels. First, the author gives sparse words as to the environment of her characters or their movement in space. Most characters are poorly developed and I am given little reason to care what happens to them. The author has all these things in her head but just doesn't le [...]

    4. This book is so bad it made me angry. The premise is derivative. The plot is rambling. The characters are absurd. The sentences are wooden. The dialogue wouldn't be used in a fourth-rate soap opera. And to make matters worse there is a two-page detailed description of the torture and mutilation of a small animal. Its presence in the book is in the worst possible taste. Only a psychopath would find pleasure in reading it. I only paid 99 cents for this book and the price was too high. I only finis [...]

    5. Favoloso, ti coinvolge fino allo spasimo! Mai un personaggio mi aveva creato empatia come Kathrine Sinclaire. Volevo vendicare la morte di Silvestro e uccidere Tomas e Jeremiah, troppo! E alla fine ho esultato!!!!

    6. I received a free copy of this book from GoodReads. The Guardians of History is a very interesting book. It has a superficial similarity to The Da Vinci Code but is far more focused and well written. The author, Elisabetta Cametti, delves deeply into Etruscan religion and creates an interesting and unpredictable novel by doing so. The changing nature of the quest that powers the plot adds a lot to the novel. One minute it's about archaeology, then you're witnessing acrobatic performers, and then [...]

    7. I had already read the Italian version of the book, and now I'm reading the english version in order to learn the language and enrich my vocabulary. It is a very exciting book, full of action, adventure and historical mysteries. I met the Etruscan civilization and I appreciated the author's ability to create a complex plot where nothing is predictable and twists are smart and credible.I really recommend this book!

    8. History made interestingIt holds your interest. I was surprised it was her first book. The subject kept you guessing and the "bad people die"

    9. The Guardians of History is an interesting novel if you thoroughly enjoy secret societies or ancient religious orders. The book is your standard thriller novel, with a modest amount of suspense. The plot is fairly predictable, with a lot of "creative leeway" given to character abilities and actions. This is one of those plots that easily is picked up by the Sci-Fi Channel, converted into a movie playing at 11:00pm on a Thursday, and watched by 14 people wearing tinfoil hats, ranting about conspi [...]

    10. I did not finish the book. I did not like it. Characters would suddenly show up with a complex relationship with the protagonist that was not explained. But I totally stopped reading when I got to a very graphic scene of cat torture. Slamming him against the stove, tying him in a choking knot, cutting his ears off.at's when I was done. I will never read another book of hers, that was just awful. It went on for another few pages that I did not read. It was bad enough to have an animal abuse warni [...]

    11. UnevenGood premise for an adventure story ala _The DaVinci Code _but lacks the fluidity. Large amounts of info are delivered in short bursts while the characters are travelling from here to there and trying to figure out who to trust. A major editing error identifies our hero as an evil character who was killed in a previous scene. I had to go back to make sure no one had risen from the dead. I could have done without the sex scenes. It seemed like something the editor required but was unnecessa [...]

    12. I will start out by saying I go this book in a good reads give away. And let me tell you the description of the back of the book does not do it justice. I was interested in this book by reading the description, but it didn't really grab me and make me want to dig in. But then I started reading it! I like the short chapters that allow you to jump around with the characters. It also had the feel of something much like the divinci code which I actually really liked. Overall it may not have been a bo [...]

    15. I really wanted to like this book more than I did. I thought it had some good premises and some intrigue it just however never went anywhere for me. It felt too drawn out and just too long in general. I was happy that while it leaves itself open to sequels it is very much a standalone book. I am not saying I won't read the second one but it will be due to not having anything else to read.

    16. One of the best books I've readI was curious about the title. Wow!!! Great read, entertaining, interesting. Adventures, relationships, mysteries galore. A great read. Congratulations on a fun book. I look forward to reading more of your work.

    17. Excellent, kept me captive, thru the entire book.I enjoyed the book medley,I have always like books like deviance code, the Templars, themason, and this book was right there with the same theme and mystery.love it hope their will be more.

    18. It was good for a first book, I think given more time the writer can do better, but the book itself was an entertaining read. My major dislike of this book with the unnecessary extremely violent animal abuse, I had to skim over several pages because it was so graphic.

    19. Woven around ancient religious historyThis novel creates an exciting myth brought to life in the present with greed and power intertwining to make fatal enemies enter into conflict.

    20. Religious extremesHistory and religion exploited for power. Too much time underground and not enough story on character development. Etruscan religion unfamiliar so dieties unknown and their power and focus new information. Index of gods would belt.

    21. I could NOT put this down. I read half of it in one day. Love the story line and the characters, this part of history is not something I knew anything about. I hope to continue with this series.

    22. OkayIt was a fast read but not my type of book. I love historical novels but this one was too out there for me. Not believable.

    23. In 'The Picture of Dorian Gray', Oscar Wilde wrote, 'There is no such thing as a moral or an immoral book. Books are well written, or badly written.'This book is badly written.

    24. NiceVery intense lots of action and puzzles the story was good but it was a little confusing with all the details of religion

    25. DecentNot bad, interesting throughout most of the book. Some racy parts kept it exciting, a little hard to follow sometimes.

    26. Definitely a lighter read. The history is interesting, if you're interested in Etruscan relics. I enjoyed this book but would not read the rest of the series. It's a bit formulaic for me.

    27. Book two cannot wait to readI loved every word written on every page held my interest from cover to cover recommend everyone read this book
