    1. I found Brasseaux's book quite interesting. Learning a little about Louisiana's past gave me a new appreciation for the area and the people who paved the way here. Unfortunately, like too many historical non-fiction books, French, Cajun, Creole, Houma: A Primer on Francophone Louisiana was a very, very dry read.
