    1. A fast-paced, tension-filled suspense novel set in 1980s Florida. I was both captivated and entertained by Beachhead. Hess is a smart writer with spot-on descriptions and dialogue that very much reminded me of Elmore Leonard's style. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a mystery or suspense novel that they want to devour in one sitting.

    2. I received this book from .I don't usually read criminal novels because they don't keep my attention for very long. Surprisingly, this one had no problem in that aspect.Beachhead is a fun read that kept my attention throughout the whole thing. Scotland, the loyal, lovable guy that he is, became a quick favorite of mine. I was also fond of Platinum. (Don't judge. He's an interesting character.) My favorite part was the ocean scene. Kinsey was so close too getting his way and getting away with it [...]

    3. I've enjoyed reading other stories by Jeffery Hess, so I had high hopes for his debut novel. Beachhead delivered. The writing here is lean, vivid and strong—and it transported me to 1980s Florida and into the underbelly of corruption and greed where our protagonist finds himself with no way out. This novel is tightly plotted, engaging and kept me turning pages until the end. Whenever I had to shut the book to go attend to life, I found myself worrying about what would happen to the characters, [...]

    4. I really enjoyed reading Beach Head. Don't let the beginning turn you off it starts out a little slow, but once you get past that the action keeps you turning the pages. The plot was very well though out and I couldn't wait to see what happened in the end. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good mystery book!

    5. 4.5 Stars - Beachhead is a suspense novel with lots of action, twists and turns. Hess brings the 1980’s Tampa to life with a descriptive narrative that is well-written and kept me guessing. 6. A great Tampa noir story that has all the parts that make Tampa fun - drugs, dirty politicians, strippers, development, strongmen. Fun read. Highly recommend it if you like crime fiction!
