    1 thought on “Little Women

    1. It looks more like episodes in a cartoon, all smiling and happy and sometimes sad with a happy end. Works well for children since the episodes never forget to praise morals and good deeds.

    2. I decided to read this young reader version of Little Women one time when I was between books. This book follows the lives of four sisters and their mother. Each go through ups and downs and navigate their way through different phases of life during the length of the book. This family has plenty of love but very little money. It is an old-fashioned book about appreciating what you have and learning values in life. The values learned in this book transcend time and help aid in reflection of what [...]

    3. This version of Little Women, tells the stories of four sisters. Their father is off fighting in the war, and the book follows their adventures while he is away. The sisters make new friends, fight with one another, grieve as they watch their older sister begin to fall in love, and learn what it means to work together in hard times and to give to those who are in need.I really enjoyed this book! I loved that it was about four sisters, because I myself have three other sisters. I related to the m [...]

    4. I wanted to read this condensed version to see if I was interested in reading the actual full-version and I've decided I will read it! Very cute stories of sisters who are close and go through life together, learning lessons along the way.

    5. Hard to connect to the story due to the book being a classic. Pretty much just read the book so I would be able to say that I had read it.

    6. This book is fantastic! I love this book! This is a perfect book for children! It teaching love, trust, faith, and endurance.

    7. Just finished reading this adaption with my five year old daughter. We both loved it and it was so fun to read together. The illustrations every few pages really helped my 5 year old stay engaged and fill in the gaps in her imagination. The adapted story was easy to understand without losing the integrity of the original version.I recommend it for a first chapter book. Also, this is only the first part of what Alcott originally wrote in two parts (so technically only the first half of our curren [...]

    8. I decided to read the classic for children version to compare with the "grown up" version. They claimed to keep the well known phrases, the language of the author and the important imagery and the heart of the tale. I have to disagree! The girls' personality is completely lost and each chapter reads like a separate little story with a moral. It might be ok for 7-9 year old girls but it will not be an encouragement to read the detailed version when they are ready as the note to the reader hopes t [...]

    9. Could you imagine living in New England during the American Civil War? Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy March belong to a poor New England family but they try to make the best of it while their father is being a chaplain during the American Civil War. As the story progresses, the Marches learn valuable lessons in love, friendships, relationships, learning, family, and self-discovery. Join them in their greatest moments and also their downfalls. I absolutely fell in love with this book, and anyone who likes [...]

    10. Even though this was a condensed version and was written for younger readers, I think it portrayed the original great. I read this to see if it would be good for my niece, and it is perfect. It gets the point across and lessons learned. It was a quick read but I think perfect length for a young reader.

    11. I really liked this book but it was very sad because Mr. March was very ill. My favorite character is Amy March because she is honest. My favorite part of the book was when Mr March came home from the hospital. I really liked how the sisters stuck together when their mom went to the hospital to be with Mr. March.

    12. I enjoyed the story. I had two problems with it. It is definitely for younger readers, and it doesn't really have an overall plot, it just has a bunch of tiny stories mixed together. I'm a bit disappointed and I hope the original is better.

    13. Read with my daughter. This is the perfect junior addition to a beautifully classic story for girls! The book says it's for ages 7+ and I agree. My daughter loved it. It should be noted that (I didn't realize) Little Women was written in two parts, and this is only the first part.

    14. My mom bought these "junior adaptations of classics" books for the kiddo. She's flying through them so I think she needs the real thing.

    15. I really liked this book untill I got to the end of it and it was only part 1 and I dont have part to, I was very disapointed!~Moi

    16. In our continuing classical education, this was a great addition. All of my children enjoyed the journey through the lives of the March women, even my boys.

    17. Favorite Classic Story Of All Time! I love how these 4 sisters are all so different but all have the same warm, giving, caring heart.

    18. Very good. Liked it more as adult than i did as child. Reminds me of education of henry adams that tàlked about how much Germany was respected in 19th century America.

    19. Good, shorter version without leaving the main characters out. Adequate for thirdgraders. Very condensed information. I enjoyed it very much>
