    1. Funny, playful, hilarious story of a family in country Victoria and how they interact with each other, their friends, school mates and the world in general. Elizabeth Land has really shown what families from the "sticks" are all about - I read in near on 40 years ago and it is one the has really stuck with me over the years. I'd like to find it a copy and read it again.

I enjoyed the loosely connected recollections of the authors childhood in early 20th century rural Victoria, where she and her family who bred like rabbits, had little in the way of material stuffs, but lived happily.It was still then a time of swagmen, tin-pot travelling tradeers, 'miracle cures' made of snake oil and such sold door to door, and rabbits carving out their subterranean estates as the men and women above ground carved out a life for themselves.Electricity and telephones were novel [...]

    3. I read this book ages ago when I was young but now I've grown up quite a bit and don't remember the story. So, a few days ago, I picked up my copy of the book (I own a copy)and started reading it. It is so fascinating. How young children were so free and playful back then and didn't need to worry about stuff.
