    1. A fire is crackling merrily in the fireplace as I type, and the weather is perfect for this book today! Even the title of this beautiful cookbook makes you feel cozy. Leek and Potato Soup, Slow-Cooked Onion and Cider Soup with Gruyere Toasts, Baked Mushrooms with Manchego Bechamel, Chunky Fish Stew with Cheese Toasts, Winter Vegetable Gratin, Coq au Vin, Toasted Teacakes, Baked Apples mouth is watering and I'm in the mood for comfort food! I was slightly surprised there wasn't a Beef Stew recipe [...]

    2. Are you ever really done with a cookbook? But, I think I've thumbed through this one pretty thoroughly. I've tried a few of the recipes, which were good, and I hope to try many more as our nights get longer and darker and wetter and colder. This book is worth looking into for the gorgeous layout alone -- photos of inviting winter scenes are mingled with ones of truly delectable looking food. A pleasure for the senses!

    3. If you can’t get enough of that cozy comfort food, Long Nights and Log Fires is for you – just spiced-up enough that you don’t feel like you’re re-creating your grandma’s pot roast. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that…). A few meals from these books and you’ll be bouncing right out of your football coma – or at least you’ll be ready for some sprightly snowball-making

    4. Most of the recipes look like something I'd like to try, just too much bother for 1 person & I don't entertain much. This'd be a great resource for the foodies I know and/or those who like to entertain.

    5. My favorite yummy comfort food cook book. Certainly more of a winter night with friends kind of book, but brilliant even so.
